Biography
New York Times columnist Jaouad details her devastating five-year battle with cancer after first being diagnosed at age 22. After graduating from Princeton and moving to Paris, she began having symptoms and returned to her family home in Saratoga, NY. During her treatment, which was documented in a series of blog posts and videos for the Times, she was bolstered by heartfelt letters from readers. As Jaouad’s cancer went into remission, she felt estranged as fellow cancer patient friends died and her longtime boyfriend left her. A 100-day road trip visiting those who had written to her, guided her “to live again in the aftermath.” Published in 2021; 348 pages.
